Machine Operator “Respooler”
Description
- This is a Morning Shift/On Site position. Monday through Friday, 7 AM—3:30 PM.
- $20.00 to $22.00 Per-Hour
- Reports to Production Manager.
Education
- High school or equivalent or equivalent work experience
Experience
- At least 2 years working in a manufacturing environment
Required Knowledge and Skills
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Ability to speak and read in English
- Ability to use the computer to access the work order and record production data
- Attention to detail
- Basic math skills
- Ability to respool
Duties & Responsibilities
- Re-spool wire and label spool
- Inspect product during re-spool process; remove joints and advise Manager of quality concerns
- Inspect incoming work orders against material specifications
- Co-ordinate production with shipping and receiving departments
- Set up pay-off and take-up equipment and ensure even traversing of product
- Set up and use spark tester on product
- Inventory materials
- Enter inspection, material consumption, finish quantity, and run data into MES program
- Adhere to Injury and Illness prevention rules and policies
- Maintain good housekeeping of area
- Train personnel as assigned
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Production Manager
Manufacturing Engineer
Description
- This is a Morning Shift/On Site position. Monday through Friday, 7 AM—3:30 PM.
- 85K -100K Annually
- Reports to Engineering Manager.
Education
- Minimum: BA/BS Engineering or equivalent technical discipline with at least 5 years’ experience in a cable manufacturing and/or cable assembly environment.
Experience
- Experience with the design and manufacture of cable products and an intimate understanding of the use of cable manufacturing equipment such as extruders (thermoplastic and thermoset), cablers, braiders, and tapers.
- Experience with design of cable assemblies and operations to support production; cable cutting, cable preparation (stripping, tinning, etc.), connectors, shielding, terminations (crimping, soldering, splicing, etc) and injection molding of thermoplastics and silicone rubber.
Required Knowledge and Skills
- Ability to work well with multiple project teams from various groups simultaneously.
- Knowledge of wire and cable components/construction (conductors, plating, stranding, insulation, lay lengths, shielding, jackets, etc.)
- Knowledge of cable electrical characterization: capacitance, inductance, resistance, attenuation, characteristic impedance, skew, etc.
- Knowledge of cable test procedures and equipment to test for attenuation, impedance, capacitance, inductance, skew, high pot, ground bond, tensile elongation, oven aging, cold bend, etc. Experience with high voltage cable is a definite plus.
- Knowledge of cable test equipment such as spark tester, TDR, LCR, milliohm meter, network analyzer, diameter measure equipment.
- Understanding how to process thermoplastics and thermoset materials in extrusion, injection molding, and bonding.
- Knowledge and experience with industry standards such as UL, CSA, Mil-std’s, ASTM, IPC-610, 620.
- Assemblies: Ability to support custom overmold design, strain relief designs, connectors, and contacts.
- Familiar with mold tooling design and construction.
- Familiar with assembly test equipment such as Cirris, multi-meter, high pot.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Familiar with Total Quality Management such as ISO 13485
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques
- Possess the ability to solve manufacturing problems
- Capable of reading and interpreting customer drawings or specifications and communicating those requirements to others.
- Skilled in the use of SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
- Fluent knowledge of Excel and Word.
- Knowledge of the cabling requirements for a variety of industries: Consumer, Commercial, Medical, Defense, Aerospace and Semiconductor.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Utilize advance features to update/test in Cable Builder
- Design and validate injection mold cavity and extrusion tips/dies
- Lead engineer in transferring assemblies to Mexico
- Design and creation of new designs for cable and assemblies and/or manufacturing capabilities.
- Support manufacturing operations, including operators, supervisors, production control, and other manufacturing personnel.
- Review and complete PCN/ECO.
- Perform validation, pFMEA (IQ/OQ/PQ), assembly process flow, control plan.
- Support sales staff by offering new capabilities with either innovative products and/or throughput improvement.
- Support purchasing with purchased part descriptions and specifications.
- Support quality control by providing inspection information and plans necessary to verify that product meets customer requirements. Interpret Military Specs, NEC Code, UL, & CSA requirements
- Recommend designs based on customer needs.
- Maintain document control to ensure all updates are performed on manufacturing documentation including bills of material, routings, work instructions, product drawings and process sheets.
- Recommend new process designs based on based on customer needs
- Create new process design and/or manufacturing capabilities
- Work directly with our Customers’ Engineers, as assigned in the development of new products and processes.
- Some travel required to customer sites.
Manufacturing Engineer (Electrical)

- Minimum: EE or BA/BS Engineering or equivalent technical discipline with at least 5 years’ experience in a cable manufacturing and/or cable assembly environment.
Experience
- Experience with the design and manufacture of cable products and an intimate understanding of the use
of cable manufacturing equipment such as extruders (thermoplastic and thermoset), cablers, braiders,

BAYCABLE is a manufacturer of custom cable and custom cable assemblies for the Medical Device, Industrial Equipment, and other markets where a standard cable or cable assembly will not meet the requirements of the application. We have been in business for 50 years and are located in Fremont, California. We are also responsible for our wholly owned subsidiary, NEI Systems Mexico in Sonora, Mexico and work closely with the local Management and Quality Manager to ensure both manufacturing sites are working to satisfy customer requirements.
